Audition

Auditions at ACT are fun and easy! Everyone is welcome, whether you have no acting experience or you’re a veteran of the stage. We believe the stage provides a beautiful opportunity to celebrate our individuality and reflect the diversity in the world. Ankeny Community Theatre welcomes performers of any race, ethnicity, gender, age, or other personal diversities to audition for our plays. All roles are listed based on the gender identity of the character in the play but any performer who feels they can play the gender identity of a listed character is encouraged to audition for the role. Unless a role is specifically listed as a certain race or ethnicity because of the requirements of the story or playwright, any person of any race or ethnicity is welcome and encouraged to audition for a role. For plays, you don’t need to prepare anything; you’ll be asked to read scenes from the script. For musicals, instructions will be announced prior to auditions. If you have ever wanted to be on stage, come give it a try! Unless otherwise noted, when auditions are on two dates, you can come to either of the two days (or both, if you like). Check out individual show pages on this website for specific audition information. We’ll also send an email and post a link on the homepage when upcoming auditions are announced. When you plan to audition for a show, you can either: 1. Print and fill out the audition form in advance and bring it with you to auditions, or 2. Arrive early to auditions and fill out a form there. If you have questions, please contact information@ankenycommunitytheatre.com.

Participant Code of Conduct

ACT is committed to maintaining an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and safe regardless of their age, race or ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, or other characteristics that make our participants and patrons unique. We expect all our participants and patrons to conduct themselves in ways that support this commitment, and to treat everyone with respect.

Everyone who participates in our productions, from directors to actors and other volunteers, agrees to follow this Code of Conduct.
