Character Breakdown
Casting for 16 roles. 4 women, 4 – 5 men, and the rest may be cast as either. All are welcome at auditions.
The setting is England. Characters will speak with a variety of accents (English, Cockney, Scottish, and Austrian). You do not have to have previous experience or a developed accent for casting. We will work with a dialect coach. You will be required to practice and work on your accent during production.
Greta – Sir Wilfred’s typist
Carter – Sir Wilfred’s chief clerk
Mr. Mayhew – middle-aged solicitor. The initial attorney for Leonard who enlists Sir Wilfred to assist in the defense.
Lenoard Vole – the defendant – mid-twenties to mid thirties
Sir Wilfred Robarts QC (Queen’s Counsel) – middle-aged or older, high rank solicitor – an experienced and winning defense attorney
Detective Inspector Hearne – no age specified
Plain Clothes Detective – no age specified (will double as warder)
Romaine – Leonard’s wife but a little older than him. Foreign woman (eastern European) of great personality but incredibly quiet.
Judge Justice Wainwright –
Clerk of Court – no age/gender specified. Limited lines. May assist with scene changes
Stenographer – no age/gender specified. No lines. May assist with scene changes.
Mr Myers QC – chief prosecutor and rival to Sir Wilfred.
Dr Wyatt – forensic doctor/surgeon for the prosecution. No age/gender specified.

Janet Mackenzie – a Scotswoman. The housekeeper to the late Emily French. Age 40+
Thomas Clegg – assistant in the forensic laboratory at Scotland Yard. No age specified.
The Other Woman – Leonard’s girlfriend. Must appear younger than Leonard.
